SUNRISE, Fla. - Doctors are recommending parents request a new vision test for their babies.
Children's vision disorders that can result in permanent blindness are difficult to detect. But the new "Enfant VEP Vision Test" can help doctors know which children need to be referred for a more comprehensive vision examination.
During the test, doctors place three sensory pads on the baby's head that recognize and process the baby's neurological responses to images. The baby watches a computer monitor with animations.
Spectacles Family Eye Care in Sunrise is one of the South Florida optometrists who offer the test.
